Frequently Asked Questions
Quotes and Payment
How do I get a quote and is there a charge for one?
Email us your upper and lower floor plans, and if possible the stair details, to sales@majesticstairs.com.au and we will get a quote back to you in 24 to 48 business hours. If you know what type of materials and timber you would like please advise us in the email so we can give you a more accurate quote.
There is no charge for initial quotes and we can provide you with two alternative timber quotes as well as a number of design variations
What should I look for when comparing quotes?
When comparing quotes, make sure that you are receiving quotes for the same style of stair with similar quality and size of materials. If you find that one quote is considerably cheaper than the others you may wish to check whether you are being offered the same quality product and materials. We are more than happy to answer any questions if there is something you are unsure of.
How do you reach your price?
Our prices depend on everything from materials used, the complexity of the stairs and installation, and time spent designing, manufacturing and installing the staircase. We work hard at giving you a competitive price while still delivery the highest quality work with the best materials available.
Timeline
How long does it take to make my stairs?
Timber staircases can usually be installed within 2 to 3 weeks of your order being placed unless you choose an exotic timber which then needs to be sourced from the Eastern States or overseas.
Steel staircases require a much more involved process and you should to allow at least 4 weeks from time of placing your order.
Material
What are the different materials I can use in my staircase and/or balustrade?
- Timber
- Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Glass
- Stainless Steel Wire
Traditionally staircases were made from timber with timber or decorative wrought iron balustrades. The more contemporary styles are open rise stairs in steel and timber with balustrading in glass, steel, stainless steel, timber, stainless steel wire or a combination of these materials. Please go to our gallery to see the large range of styles available
Can I use any type of timber and can I match the stairs to my floor boards?
We know how important it is to have your staircase compliment the flooring and finishes in your home and generally we are able to match the timber. We source timber from local, interstate and overseas suppliers and depending on the design of your stairs we are usually able to use the timber of your choice.
What type of timber do you typically work with?
While we have experience working with many types of timber, the most common timbers we work with are Pine, Tasmanian Oak, Jarrah, American White Oak, American Black Walnut and Blackbutt.
What sort of MDF do you use?
At Majestic Stairs we only use E0 MDF which is a low emission MDF and doesn’t have a strong odour.
Can I use glass in my balustrading?
Yes, we have many styles of glass balustrade using framed, semi-framed or frameless toughened glass either top or side fixed. Please view our gallery to see the range available.
Design
What if I want something unusual?
We are happy to help design individual stairs for you as long as your staircase conforms with the Building Codes of Australia.
I don’t have plans drawn up for my renovation – can you still provide me with a quote?
We are happy to come to your house and measure up for your stairs and then give you a quote.

(New Staircase)Chris,
Your guys have done a terrific job installing the stairwell today. My thanks to you and them for a very efficient effort. The new stairs have opened up the area hugely and without the balustrade at the end allows a lot more light into the room and passageway from the adjacent window. Cheers.
